Overview: Customizable belts with a change purse to wear on one’s hip to replace the need for a purse. Genre Collection’s “The Hip Purse” was a functional, hands-free, edgy design that fused fashion, jewelry and accessories with a modern approach. The front panel on the change purse (made from metal or acrylic) was created with a snap system to individualize one’s fashion accessory. The consumer could literally build their own belt. Each piece was unique and interchangeable ranging from various fabrics and snap on accessories that included themed buttons, acrylic butterflies, antique jewelry and gemstones.

Story: This design was based on need for consumers to have an elevated accessory that provided function and personalized style. “The Hip Purse” stood out from the rest in the marketplace showing how versatile, convenient, innovative and fun fashion accessories can be. In addition, “The Hip Purse” provided a variety of consumers a new way to support their favorite sports team or favorite themes.

Impact: “The Hip Purse” received a lot of attention from media and celebrities due to how distinctive and fun each piece was. In addition, Shanna created one-of-a-kind butterflies for various clients, which provided another personalized touch. Celebrities who owned a one-of-a-kind Hip Purse and media who supported the brand include: People Magazine, Angeleno Magazine, In Touch Magazine, EXTRA TV, Madonna, Paris Hilton, Drew Barrymore, Halle Berry and more.
